Your voice never leaves your Mac
Transcription is on-device: Apple's speech engine on macOS 26, a local Whisper model before that. No bot joins your meeting and nothing is recorded. Only the transcribed command, and the deck you choose to load, go to your own AI provider.
Your key stays in the Keychain
Bring your own AI key and it is encrypted on your Mac with a key held in the macOS Keychain. It travels to your model provider and nowhere else. There is no Capturia account and no Capturia server holding your credentials.
The camera light tells the truth
Capturia reads your webcam through the same system camera APIs as every other app, so the light next to your lens is on whenever Capturia can see you. No light, no video. It is open source, so you can check.
The one thing the app does send: an anonymous launch ping, four fields (a random install id connected to nothing, the event name, app version, macOS version). The switch to turn it off is in Settings, and docs/telemetry.md shows the exact bytes.

01Can I download the app today?
Yes. Download the DMG (the click starts it immediately; every build is also listed on GitHub releases), drag Capturia into Applications, and launch. Builds are Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens them without warnings. The browser demo needs no download at all.
02What does it need to run?
macOS 13 or newer on Apple Silicon; the current build does not ship an Intel binary. Mid-sentence cue matching uses Apple’s streaming speech engine on macOS 26; on macOS 13 to 15 a local Whisper model transcribes instead and cue cards land at your next pause.
03How does it get into my call?
Capturia installs a macOS camera extension, so a camera named “Capturia” appears in every call app’s camera picker, right next to your webcam. Select it in Zoom, Meet, Slack, or Teams and your audience sees your camera with the live graphics on it. Prefer not to install the extension? The OBS bridge documented in the repo still works.
04Does it record my calls?
No. Speech is transcribed on your Mac and your call audio never leaves it. No bot joins the meeting, nothing is recorded, nothing is stored by Capturia. Your transcribed commands, and the deck you load, go only to your own AI provider to decide what to render.

Capturia itself is free forever and open source under MIT. You bring your own AI key, encrypted on your Mac with a key held in the macOS Keychain and never sent to our servers, and you pay your model provider directly for what you use.
